A girl lost her fingertip in a mosh pit at Reading this weekend

She got her finger trapped in between two of the fences while watching Aitch

A girl lost the tip of her finger during a mosh pit at Reading Festival this weekend.

Teenager Summer Gibbs was waiting for rapper Aitch to come on for his set when a huge mosh pit formed, slamming her against the fence and causing her finger to become trapped in it. Gibbs fainted multiple times throughout the ordeal.

After the festival’s security team freed her finger and pulled her out of the crowd, 16-year-old Gibbs went to hospital to be X-rayed, where she found out the tip of her finger had come off and it was fractured. She said it will take a couple of months to fully heal.

A viral TikTok video posted by @theryanwingfield on Sunday, which now has 2.9 million likes, shows a girl in a white hat getting into some difficulty.

In the distressing video, members of the festival’s security team can be seen stepping in to pull the teen out of the crowd.

The teen explained that she and her friends had been waiting an hour and a half for Aitch to come onstage at Reading Festival, but that as it got closer to the time of his performance, more and more people began to join the crowd.

As the rapper came onstage, a huge mosh pit formed, slamming Gibbs into the fence, at which point she noticed that her “finger had been clamped in between two of the fences.”

She explained that “there were so many people trying to get the fence apart and free my finger and because of the adrenaline, I didn’t feel any pain as it was happening.”

She adds that she was “in and out of consciousness and kept fainting throughout” the ordeal. In fact, the teen explained that just before @theryanwingfield began recording the event, she had just fainted, meaning she didn’t really remember being walked towards the stage and away from the crowd by the festival’s security team.

She explains that “this is when the pain started kicking in and I realised I had a panic attack that lasted two hours.”

The video ends with Gibbs showing a picture of her finger wrapped in medical gauze.

She explains that she was sent to the hospital to have an X-ray, at which point she found out that the tip of her finger had come off and it was fractured. Gibbs says the injury will take “a couple of months for it to fully heal.”
